Definition

An advance entry into the POSCON Flight Data System that reserves a callsign (>2 hours prior to EOBT). This can be accomplished by filing a flight plan up to 5 days in advance of the EOBT or creating a reservation through a 3rd party source, such as a Virtual Airline. You are considered "on time" if you pushback between EOBT minus 10 minutes to EOBT plus 15 minutes.

Parabolic Flight Operations

Definition

Parabolic flight operations are aerobatic maneuvers in which the aircraft is intentionally pitched in excess of 30 degrees above and 30 degrees below the horizon in a repeated fashion for the specific purpose of exposing the participants to reduced or zero gravity conditions.

Planned Redispatch or ReRelease EnRoute

Definition

The term "planned redispatch or rerelease en route" means any flag operation (or any supplemental operation that includes a departure or arrival point outside the 48 contiguous United States and the District of Columbia) that is planned before takeoff to be redispatched or rereleased, in accordance with 14 CFR 121.631(f), at a predetermined point along the route of flight to an airport other than that specified in the original dispatch or flight release.

Point of Contact (POC)

Definition

A member of the certificated Virtual Operator that is in charge of operations as they relate to POSCON. This person will have limited access to update information regarding their Virtual Operator on the POSCON HQ.

Polar Area (North)

Definition

The north polar area of operations is that area that lies north of latitude N 78º 00’.

Position

Definition

A Position is defined as a Sector + Role combination. Typically a Position consists of one Sector, with one unique frequency association; however, depending on the how the position is configured, it is possible that multiple other sectors will be combined to it.
