SCRAMBLE on Poscon?

Recommended Posts

Hello Poscon, I'm Andrea, an user from Italy. I would talk about something that could be of interest for who want perform military operations.

Both actual network doesn't allow an operation that it's essential in real life for the safety of every airspace. I talking about the scramble.

Onestly, I have an idea that could be appropriate to allow the scramble operation inside POSCON. If a Enroute Controller doesn't receive any type of reply from a "zombie" pilot ( I don't know if in other countries this is the code for any aircraft not identified and without ATC contact) after 5 minutes, he could send a broadcast message with a command to any observer user online on POSCON for these type of missions, with the request to takeoff immediately from a specific airport indicated in the broadcast message (example: an ATC over Roma Radar write inside ATC client the command ".scramble LIRS"), any user that has receive this message is allowed to connect with a specific callsign without a flight plan filed, except for the callsign and aircraft type) and takeoff immediately from a specific airport, indicated in the broadcast message, for intercept the zombie. If will be possible estabilished a radio communication with the zombie, the pilot that was departed for the scramble could choice to escort the flight until he leave the airspace under control by the ATC online, or return to base and land. In case the "zombie" doesn't send any type of commuication to ATC after 25/30 minutes, the ATC could send the request to a supervisor to disconnect the zombie pilot. Of course, the possibility to perform scramble should be restricted to any supervisor and also for some pilot that are recognized to perform this operation from their divisions with the appropriate critheria estabilshed from the network if POSCON will not approve the possibility to perform the offensive manouvres (such also dogfight, that isn't allowed inside other networks such VATSIM and IVAO)

What did you think about this? It's just an idea, but itìs a good idea or not? After all,  is very easy for an ACC find a pilot that doesn't reply when he join an airspace with ATC online.

I'm fairly confident it wouldn't be particularly helpful. It's certainly the last thing i'd think of wanting as an ACC controller, it'd just cause more chaos.

On a note of this though, some kind of system where after n minutes of receiving a contact-me message (or equivalent) the pilot is disconnected automatically for failing to call in could be useful

This is not something we would ever consider implementing as it is outside the ethos of creating a friendly environment for aviation professionals, hobbyists, and enthusiasts. Military aviation is supported on the network and formation flying is encouraged but the interception and simulated destruction of other aircraft are best left to other platforms like DCS.

Thank you Zachary for you reply. I wasn't sure if this...type of operation was taken in consideration, but of course, is better evalue any option, and after, take the decisions. And if this will be the best option for POSCON, well, I'm happy know that I have a reply about this. I believe in this project, and if I will find the time, I would try to give my little contribute with SOP and sct for my zone.....after all, seems that this is possible for everyone :)

Hope to see you as soon as possible inside POSCON virtual skies!
