About This Club

This club was created to recruit members to the POSCON United Kingdom Division.
  1. What's new in this club
  2. Hey! I hope to join, waiting to find out if I'm free.
  3. Greetings, I look forward to attending the meeting as well as seeing the growth of the division. I understand that you have only just been appointed, but what are your plans for the immediate future? Alongside this, what would be great to see are a few videos detailing how to use the radar client, while there is the CBT for Tower and the support forum, there are many things that could be a little more in depth due to the difference to EuroScope. On that topic, it would also be great to see improvements to the sector files, adding this such as VRPs amongst other minor improvements, are there any plans for this already? I know that the Division is in good hands and I look forward to seeing your work. Regards, Oliver
  4. Thank you very much Filippo. It will be great to see you on Friday I look forward to hearing your questions. As for your support, I have to thank you once again together as a community we will help shape and grow not only the UK Division but the Network as a whole. Regards Anthony
  5. Hello! Congrats on your appointment, I will be there on Friday for sure! Also, If needed, I’m up to help this amazing division grow: - I will continue working on the individual aerodrome sectorfiles for ERAM - I can help writing policies or all the kinds of documents on a custom POSCON UK template - Not sure if important but I have some experience using Adobe Premier Pro 2020 and Adobe Photoshop so also I can help in the marketing department of the division (Probably this will be more important in the future after the division is officially launched) It’s not a lot, but I hope I can help anyways ? Thanks! Filippo,
  6. Hi All, As some of you may be aware I have recently been appointed Division Manager for POSCON United Kingdom Division I will be hosting a divisional meet and greet on Friday 11th February 2022 at 2000z within the POSCON UK Discord server "Division Voice Lobby 1" room I kindly invite any members that wish to come and meet all who attend. It is also a chance for you to ask any question you may have regarding the UK Division or the POSCON Network. I have created this topic to allow members to post any questions, suggestions, or ideas you may have below and allow us to fully discuss during the meet and greet. I look forward to meeting members and hearing your questions, suggestions, and ideas. Regards Anthony
  7. Hi All, Sorry about resurrecting a dead thread but if you need a RW PPL IR I can probably chip in especially with LPL and the Smaller AFIS/AG since I know them well (if we want to support the GA side of things)
  8. I'd like to help. I always have the air band on listening into Stansted, and work and spot regularly at Cambridge so I feel those are two airports I could help with in particular. However, I'll happily help in anyway I can, even if it's sifting through the CAP.413 to find relevant ATC calls to put into training material.
  9. Greetings from Hong Kong! I am a long time VATSIM and IVAO controller and I have got a pilot licence and radiotelephony licence from the UK. Hopefully, there could be different LARS (or at least a large Farnboro' LARS covering London) for low level GA traffic in the new POSCON:) I will also be able to help as well (perhaps as a visiting controller):)
  10. I know some people who may be interested in creating a channel islands sub division, basically covering anything within Jersey radar's area (EGJJ, EGJA and EGJB)
  11. You will be notified via social media and these forums when when we go into Open Beta.
  12. POSCON will most likely proceed down the route of special airport/airspace certifications; however, many of the ATC "policies" have yet to be determined and are open for discussion.
  13. I don't think that this is done due to traffic levels. Most of the time, it is done due to special procedures in use at the airport in question. This can be in response to a real-world incresae in traffic but, generally, online traffic levels are not the reason for the use of the above designations on VATSIM.
  14. On VATSIM, at least from the point of view of the major airports, they mostly don't fall in line with the amount of traffic that you actually get - EGKK and EGCC have way more traffic than LHBP. It could definitely be done better with some thinking
  15. Also interested in the BETA, is there anyway we can register our interest and get notified when it goes live?
  16. just wondering if there is anything since the start of August that is new to poscon. Many thanks Callum
  17. Hi All! I see that Moodle will be used within POSCON development. I have some Moodle expertise that I am willing to contribute. Cheers, Richard
  18. I'd say they are, but most overseas territories which are not in the middle of the sea have similar arrangements.
  19. @Lenny Colton I believe these are edge cases and we can deal with them on a case by case basis as we progress forward.
  20. I found a post a while back saying that it was initially going to be live about now but it's been pushed back until around the end of the year.
  21. Hey, So i joined POSCON not long ago and would like to be a Beta tester, I've looked around for a while but found no instructions other than on the Home page. Any help? Ramy
  22. Does POSCON intend to add the "Major Airport" and "Special Center" designations as they are used on VATSIM? These designations, once applied to an aerodrome or sector, require a user to undertake additional, location-specific, training before controlling there. This is usually a differences and special procedures theory course, followed by 1:1 training on the particular position.
  23. However, you should remember that some territories, such as the Falklands (Las Malvinas), have British-employed local aerodrome and approach controllers, but fall under the en-route control sector of a different nation. In the case of the Falklands, the tower and radar controllers are locals, but it falls under FIR Comodoro Rivadavia (SAVF), owned by Argentina. To complicate things, the primary international airport is an RAF base (with a British EG ICAO code) - RAF Mount Pleasant (EGYP) , though there is also a small paved civilian airport for local flights only (with a local SF ICAO code) - Port Stanley Airport (SFAL). Gibraltar (LXGB) has a similar issue, technically being an RAF base (though the passenger terminal is not part of the base) with local tower and approach controllers, but falling under FIR Madrid (LECM), owned by Spain.
  24. Bit late, I was a bit dubious when I first heard about POSCON in December but it seems to be progressing greatly and I'm very interested in what will come out of it. One question: How will S1 rating transfers be managed, given that they are subject to local restrictions?
  25. Hey all! Just joined the club! Loving what I'm reading in this forum so far! So hyped for being part of the initial people that join POSCON!
