January 2019 Development Update
As promised, here is the January 2019 POSCON development update: I am pleased to announce that on Saturday, January 19th, we officially began Closed Beta testing. Our initial test consisted of a small group of pilots and controllers that signed onto the POSCON Network and conducted a scheduled test that lasted approximately two hours. The test was a huge success and we are very excited about the next one! We plan on conducting at least 3-4 more scheduled tests before we expand our testing pool (i.e. add more people). We are not revealing a timeline of when this expansion may occur, so please do not ask. We are also no longer accepting any more testers or applications for testers. That is all for now! Please have a safe and enjoyable rest of your week.

Infrastructure for Africa
Every VM costs money. There has to be a large demand for one (i.e. a lot of users from Sub Sahara) for us to consider a VM in SA. Start recruiting and maybe we can make that a reality!

Major Airports
Andrew Heath replied to Lenny Colton (1015584)'s topic in United Kingdom Division's General DiscussionPOSCON will most likely proceed down the route of special airport/airspace certifications; however, many of the ATC "policies" have yet to be determined and are open for discussion.

Translators Needed!
Thanks guys for all your interest in translating. We are going to hold off on further translations until we are closer to CPDLC implementation. I will contact the people who responded to this thread when we are ready. Thanks again!

Real frequencies over the atlantic and unifrom websites for divisions
The problem is you want to keep unique identity within divisions... to make sure they can develop their own "community". It is a balance between standardization and identity. In regards to the oceanic operations, yes we will be simulating HF.

Shared cockpit and radar
There are serious limitations on VATSIM for shared cockpit and shared radar simply does not exist on VATSIM.

You can't yet. Expect an update on dates in January.

'Shared Radar', 'Drones', etc.
@Nitschtr Wow, thanks for all the questions. I will do my best to answer as many as I can. ATC radar sharing is easy, and will probably be available on the final public release of the network. However, the drones are a huge project that we have only just scratched the surface of. Don't expect drones in the open beta, its more like a Phase 2 item. The idea for drones is they will be partially AI, enough so that controllers can have fun when there are no other "real" pilots online. Hopefully over-time, they will become 100% intelligent. Ground clamping is 100% solved. Lateral deviations due to runway/taxiway/apron differences is another issue that we have ideas for, but will be a much tougher issue to solve. As for the more detailed ideas about shared radar... lets just put it this way, you are gonna like the end result, I promise you that ?

How can you be a BETA Tester??
We are good with beta testers for now, but you can submit your applications here: https://positive-control.breezy.hr/ If we ever have the need for more (which we probably will in the future), we will reach out.

No news??
@Xander Hoving Ground clamping is completely solved on all platforms with POSCON. Already completed actually.

X plane height correction
Harry, I am excited to report that this issue has already been solved in our current code.
