Pilot Resources
Overview. Brussels South Airport (IATA: CRL, ICAO: EBCI) is an airport located on the north of Charleroi area - South of Brussels city.
Runway Use. In calm conditions, Runway 24 is the preferred runway if the tailwind component is less than 5kts and the runway surface is dry. When there is a strong crosswind, then the tail wind component should be calculated and the general trend should be assessed.
Transponder Use on Ground. Once on the stand, set the transponder code to 7000 before switching it off.
Ramps. North ramps are assigned for airlines such as Rayanair, Air Belgium, etc. South ramps are assigned for General aviation.
Uncontrolled Operations. The following frequencies should be utilised only when POSCON ATC is offline.

Scenery. There are multiple add-on sceneries available for Brussels South/Charleroi Airport. if you are using FSX/P3D, we strongly recommend that you download one because they incorporate recent updates that are not included in default scenery. If you decide to fly with scenery that is not included in the approved list, then make every effort to follow the controllers' instructions referencing the published taxiway diagrams (Especially with new N7 holding point )

Aircraft stands 51B, 55B, 57B, 67B and 80B dedicated to Airbus A340-300 and code D aircraft.
Start-up Clearances Start clearance will be provided once the aircraft is ready for pushback. Aircraft will request pushback once ready to do so from Ground. Single engine piston aircraft and smaller GA/business aircraft may not need pushback as can taxi straight off stand. Aircraft may be instructed to push back onto another stand if they have a slot to wait for so as not to obstruct the taxiway. In order to allow for another aircraft to taxi out or into an adjacent stand, aircraft may be instructed to carry out a ‘long push’ to abeam a specific stand.
Taxi Procedures. TWY S2 and S3 are prohibited to aircraft with wingspan exceeding 36 M.
TWY S4 is prohibited to aircraft with wingspan exceeding 20 M if turning right on the RWY towards THR 24.
180° backtrack on RWY 24 by aircraft of more than 20 T is only allowed on the turn pad after the end of RWY 24.
Due to safety reasons, no more than two aircraft with wingspan of 24 M or more are allowed simultaneously on RWY 06/24 and TWY S. When an aircraft with wingspan of 36 M or more performs a movement on RWY 06/24, no aircraft are allowed on TWY S and vice versa.
Airbus A340-300 taxiing on TWY N shall maintain both outer engines on idle to avoid FOD/stones ingestion due to unprepared TWY shoulders.
Airbus A340-300 may be exceptionally allowed on TWY S via S1 and S4 upon prior approval by the airport authority, only with a follow-me car and wingman. Both outer engines shall remain on idle to avoid FOD/stones ingestion due to unprepared TWY shoulders.
TWY centreline markings shall strictly be followed by aircraft entering RWY 06 via N1 or N2.
Noise Abatement Procedures Please refer to EBCI AD 2.21 NOISE ABATEMENT PROCEDURES
