Policies that are adopted need to be constantly evaluated by both the staff and membership to ensure that they remain relevant. Policies can and should evolve over time based on feedback from the membership. If something doesn't work well for you, we want to hear about it! Your input is critical to the success of POSCON so we encourage you to submit your policy suggestions. You can do this publicly or privately at your discretion. For public policy feedback, feel free to use our Feature Requests section of our Forum. For private policy feedback, feel free to email [email protected].
-
The following outlines a general flow for how Feedbacks are reviewed.
-
All received Feedback can be appealed by a user by emailing [email protected]. If appealed, the Feedback is elevated to the POSCON Director of Support for disposition. Please note, if the Director of Support deems that the appeal is unjustified for any reason, points may be deducted from the appealing user in order to discourage abuse of the Appeals Process in the futre.
-
In general, all Moderator judgements are final. If warranted, the Receiver does have the option to invoke the Appeals Process to challenge the decision (see below for more details). The following judgement rules apply: Once Feedback is submitted, Moderators have control over the content passed onto the Receiver. Moderators may, at their discretion, modify the submitted Feedback summary in order to turn the situation into a learning experience for the Receiver. Moderators have control to change a submitted Feedback rating. If they deem the Submitter was at fault for a particular situation, they may, at their discretion, deduct points from the Submitter as a result of the Feedback submission. Moderators may assign training as a result of submitted Feedback; in this case, that training is mandatory prior to connecting to the Live server again and no points will be received from taking it.
-
All Feedback is automatically de-identified prior to the Receiver seeing the result. Moderators are responsible for ensuring that they do not use language that may reveal the identity of the Submitter to the Receiver. The following submission rules apply: Users may only submit Feedback about a Member who they directly interacted with while connected to POSCON in the Live mode. In other words, users may not submit Feedback as a 3rd party to a situation or on behalf of someone else. Feedback must be submitted within 24 hours of an incident or it is automatically discarded. Only four Feedbacks may be submitted by the same user in a 24 hour period and they must all be related to different users. At all times, Feedback submissions should remain constructive even when the Feedback you are submitting is negative about another user. The primary goal of the Feedback system is to re-enforce learning. If the Feedback is deemed vindictive or overly negative by the Moderator, the Feedback will be discarded. Feedback must be warranted. If the Moderator deems the Feedback is lacking substance, the Feedback will be discarded. Trolling of another member using the Feedback system is strictly prohibited. We take Feedback very seriously and any abuse of the system will result in a permanent ban. (Not currently implemented) If three highly-rated POSCON users (above TBD points) submit negative feedback ("Poor" or "Terrible" rating) about a user within a 24 hour period about a user, then the user is automatically suspended for 24 hours without any Moderator judgment necessary.

In any case if we would create this I'm in and glad to help.... It is likely the case we will group Divisions into regions, similar to how VATSIM does it. We will see though, it's still rather undecided and not entirely necessary at this point

The Sentinel Moderation System (SMS) is a feature of the POSCON Sentinel Bot. It is a moderation system that allows POSCON Members that have linked their Discord accounts to moderate POSCON affiliated Discord servers without Director/Manager/Moderator intervention. How It Works If a user is violating POSCON User Content policies while in a POSCON affiliated Discord server, then any POSCON Member can vote to mute the user by reacting to the message(s) in question with a (:mute:) emoji. On the other hand, if a POSCON Member feels that a user is being unfairly muted, then they can vote against the mute by reacting to the same message(s) with a (:unmute:) emoji. If the number of mute emoji reactions is greater than the number of unmute emoji reactions by a margin of five, then the offending user will be automatically muted across all POSCON affiliated Discord servers. When this occurs, a notification is instantly sent to our Moderation team and they can take additional actions such as unmuting the user or banning the user at their discretion. Important Notes Regarding SMS Logic This feature only works in POSCON affiliated Discord servers that have the Sentinel Bot. Only messages that are sent in the last 24 hours qualify for SMS moderation. If a user attempts to vote on their own message, the vote will be ignored. Only one vote from a POSCON Member will be counted towards another user within the previous 24 hours. For example, if an offending user posts ten messages and a POSCON Member adds a mute emoji to each message, then the Sentinel Bot will only count one mute vote. POSCON Members can remove or change their votes at any time. Votes are continuously monitored by the Sentinel Bot and thus the outcome can change dynamically. For example, if a member is muted due to the SMS logic and subsequently loses mute votes and/or gains unmute votes so that the margin falls below five, then the member will be automatically unmuted. Votes are counted from all POSCON affiliated Discord servers in the last 24 hours. For example, if some POSCON Members voted to mute a user in the POSCON India Discord server and a different group of POSCON Members voted to mute the same user in POSCON Public Discord, then the votes in both of these servers would count. POSCON Staff are exempt from SMS logic. Abuse of the SMS System Please remember that Sentinel Bot sends a report to the Moderation team each time a user is muted. If the Moderation team discovers that a user is being unfairly targeted, then the reporting user(s) will be punished with POSCON Points being taken away from them OR suspension from the Network for repeat offenses.

The following rules apply to both the voice channels and text channels at all times. Violation of any rule can result in a permanent ban from the Discord and the Network itself. The following is an abbreviated list; additional content rules can be found under User Content > General Guidelines. All policies from the policies index also apply here. Be respectful of one another at all times. No political or religious discussions. No spamming or trolling. Inappropriate language is prohibited. Mentioning the administrators, moderators, or a specific person without proper reason is prohibited. Linking to any harmful or illicit material such as viruses, IP grabbers, malware, copyrighted, or pirated software is strictly prohibited. Keep discussions relevant to the respective channel. You may not promote or advertise personal media content (e.g. streams, YouTube channels, personal Discord servers, etc.) in any affiliated POSCON Discord server unless the media is related to activity on the Positive Control Network. Please limit posts to two times per day. Don't post someone's personal information without their permission. Anything prohibited by the POSCON User Agreement (aka Terms) is also prohibited here. Don't pretend to know everything about aviation or flight sim, because you don't.

Prior to a policy being adopted by the Positive Control Network, the following factors must be considered: User Experience - How will the policy affect an individual user's experience on the Network? Membership - How will the policy affect the membership as a whole? Benefits - What are the benefits of the policy, what value does it add to the Network? Implementation - How difficult would the policy be to implement? Enforcement - Can the policy be enforced through automation? If not, how difficult would it be to manually enforce? After careful consideration of the above factors, a decision is made by the President and POSCON Directors on whether a policy proposal should be adopted or discarded.
