Virtual Operators

Types of Certificates

In order to be considered an affiliated Virtual Operator on the POSCON Network, the Virtual Operator must be apply and be authorized for a set of mandatory operations specifications. The following paragraphs outline which operations specifications are considered mandatory for the type of certificate the Virtual Operator wishes to hold.

Air Carrier - Domestic, Flag, and Supplemental

This certificate covers the operations of a typical passenger airline. These operations include:

  • Domestic - An airline with flight schedules within the same nation state
  • Flag - An airline with flight schedules involving international flying
  • Supplemental - An airline that operates the schedule of another airline’s routes

Mandatory Operations Specifications:

Governmental
Revision: 20 Jan 2022

This certificate covers the very specific operations of non-military governmental organization. These operations include:

  • Search and Rescue operations
  • Fire-fighting operations

Mandatory Operations Specifications:

Military
Revision: 18 Feb 2022

This certificate covers the operations of a Military organization. These operations include, but are not limited to:

  • Training exercises within Special Use Airspace (SUA)
  • Simulated war games
  • Air-to-air refueling
  • Aircraft carrier and Carrier Air Traffic Control Center (CATCC) operations
  • Low level military operations utilizing published military routes
  • Escort missions
  • Air Combat Maneuvers (ACM)
  • Intercept operations
  • Search and Rescue (SAR) operations
  • Cargo and passenger operations
  • Airdrops
  • Air shows, demonstrations, and displays
