Virtual Operators

A001 - Issuance and Applicability

A. General

A001 identifies the Ops Specs holder. The name must be the full name of the Virtual Operator. A001 also specifies the kinds of operations authorized, the applicable regulatory authority and sections under which the operations are to be conducted, and any other business names under which the operations are being conducted.

A001 also authorizes the use of specific ICAO airline codes and the associated radio telephony.

B. Authorization

A001 authorizes the conduct of operations under other business names known as “doing business as” (DBA). If no operations are authorized to be conducted under another DBA, the statement selected will state that “the Virtual Operator is authorized to use only the business name which appears on the certificate to conduct the operations described in subparagraph A.”

C. Exemptions

A001 identifies exempted operations that may be conducted under less restrictive regulations while still utilizing the authorizations in these operations specifications. A Letter of Authorization need not be obtained so long as these exempted operations are not conducted for the purposes of achieving POSCON Points or rank.
